Icon Online is a pole and hoop competition judged solely on technique. Competitors perform static tricks on either the pole or the hoop during this live online event.
History
Pole and Hoop Icon first launched at Arnold Sport Festival Africa 2019 hosted as a side event to the Pole Art and Aerial Art Performance Competitions. The concept of Icon is relatively new to the industry. It differs from the better known format for competitions which usually feature 3-4 minute technical and artistic routines. At Icon competitors are scored on individually presented moves.
What is it?
Icon is an accessible and inclusive competition. Many aspects that are necessary for routine based competitions have been removed. At Icon no specific costumes are needed, there is no music and competitors do not perform routines. Scores depend entirely on technical ability. Icon competitors know which moves they need to be able to present months before the event.
